    Responsibilities

    We seek Director of Retail Engagement for our Chicago office!

     

    This role is a shopper marketing and media expert with a deep understanding of how creative and integrated marketing channels impact and drive the overall consumer and shopper experience. As an expert in mapping the consumer / shopper journey to derive and provide insight and inspiration, this role requires an understanding of how consumers navigate decision-making as well as the media / resources they use to live, plan and shop, the Director of Retail Engagement provides channel and retailer-specific approaches to activation, including guiding the media / tactical approach for program activation through to execution and measurement. 

     

    This role works with account leads, clients and creative teams to provide a clear, concise point of view, supported by data, for how to engage consumers to drive action / conversion. 

     

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Work with senior account team to define key strategic opportunities and their potential impact on the projects / brand & retailer activation programming
    • Once core idea / concept is established, work with strategy / creative and account team to create a relevant consumer / shopper journey with supporting communication strategy
      • Work with partner agencies to develop communication plan inclusive of measurement plan /success
      • Plans should be inclusive of retailer media & e-commerce platforms
      • Determine and applying media best practices and establishing guidelines for shopper marketing, especially as it relates to changing/driving shopper behavior in market
      • Support program development leveraging channel / retailer specific expertise and intelligence
    • In partnership with senior account team, present recommendations, identified communication strategies, and final tactical / media recommendations to the client
    • Lead development of direct reports through mentorship, coaching and ongoing performance feedback and identification of learning opportunities

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Media Buying, Advertising, Retail-Oriented Marketing such as category /trade management, sales or shopper marketing
    • 3-5 years of Strategic Planning experience within the discipline of retail / shopper marketing or brand marketing
    • Media planning / buying experience within the shopper discipline is ideal; specifically experience with tactical planning / vendor management within a retailer’s media organization or within a CPG trade or customer marketing department
    • Shopper and Customer/Trade marketing experience within the retail landscape (5+ years)
    • Applied experience with database tools and systems such as Simmons, MRI, Kantar, or equivalent
    • Ability to analyze results, interpret data, draw sound conclusions, and develop insightful and actionable recommendations
